Douglas County has ramps on the Umpqua and Smith Rivers. The City of North Bend, BLM and Port of Coos Bay have ramps on Coos Bay. The Oregon Dunes NRA has ramps on many lakes.

Trails from less than one mile to more than seven miles. Ranging from moderate to steep and difficult. One trail accesses Big Tree Picnic Area where the world's largest Port Orford Cedar grows. Coos Bay Shorelands The "North Spit" sand dunes between the ocean and Coos Bay The area has no constructed hiking trails but contains many acres of sand dunes, coastal shores, bay frontage, and sand roads for hiking. Doerner Fir Old Growth Trail 1 1/2 mile round-trip trail through old-growth forest. Trail leads from remote logging road in eastern Coos County to the National Champion Coastal Douglas Fir Tree. Off-Road-Vehicles (Private Vehicle Use) The Oregon Dunes is a regional attraction for ORV enthusiasts. Call the Oregon Dunes NRA for riding information. The Forest Service manages ORV activity on the dunes. Many of the dunes and beaches are open for riding. Designated routes connect open sand areas to beaches. Off-Road-Vehicles (Rental) Several Businesses in the area rent ORVs. Businesses offer a variety of vehicle types for rental. Some also offer dunes tours on large vehicles. Several locations adjacent to the dunes. Local Chambers have list of businesses.Bike Routes (roads) Many roads in the area are used by bicycles. The most popular is the Oregon Coast Bike Route which passes through the Bay Area. A biking guide is available at local bike stores and visitor centers. It suggests several routes in the area.
The area also has many miles of paved logging roads in the Coast Range maintained by the BLM. The Glendale to Powers Bike Route is currently under development. Throughout the area Visitor Centers, local bike stores, BLM office in North Bend, USFS Powers Ranger District.
Mountain Biking(off road) Euphoria Ridge trail near Bridge, OR. The Euphoria Ridge trail was recently featured in a regional biking magazine. Club Bump is a mountain biking club that maintains the trail. Wind Surfing Wind surfers are beginning to discover the strong summer winds on the south coast. Coos Bay is becoming popular with wind surfers. Floras Lake south of Bandon is also a popular site. Sail Boating - Ten Mile Lake provides an interesting and challenging experience for the sailor. Proximity to the ocean and its many coves provide challenging winds.
