Tourist Attractions In & About - Medford, Oregon

With rich agricultural surroundings and a family atmosphere, Medford's is the region's largest city and commercial hub. Bear Creek is the site of two city parks with nature trails, bike paths and picnic areas. The city offers an abundance of activities for every taste:

  • Stroll downtown and visit antique shops, galleries and the Southern Oregon History Center.
  • Recall the heyday of the Rogue Valley train at the Railroad Park.
  • Shop 'til you drop at the Rogue Valley Mall and the Pear Tree Factory Outlet Stores in nearby Phoenix.
  • Sample the local harvest of pears, berries and nuts at Harry & David's Country Store, then follow your nose to the Jackson & Perkins store, both in Harry & David's Country Village.

    Applegate Trail - Traverses Jackson County along I-5 from Rogue River to Ashland and east along Hwy. 66 to Klamath Falls. This was the southern route of the famous Oregon Trail. Highlights along this section include Tubb Springs, Upper and Lower Table Rocks, the Gin Lin Trail, and other attractions.

    HISTORIC DOWNTOWN WALKING TOUR- Pick up a Historic Downtown Walking Tour brochure at the Medford Visitor Information Center and take a leisurely self-guided tour of the historic downtown buildings. Center Hours: Winter: 9am-5pm Monday through Saturday, closed Sunday. Summer: 9am-6pm Monday through Sunday.     Joseph Stewart serves as the recreational entrance to Lost Creek Reservoir on the upper stretch of the Rogue River. Boating and water-skiing are very popular. The reservoir is open to anglers year-round and stocked with trout and bass.
    Camping, showers, dumping station, picnicking, fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, bike trails. 151 electrical, 50 tent; maximum site 80'. Special features: marina, 5.5 miles of hiking trails, 6 mile bike trail. Unique features: on Upper Rogue River hiking trail (connects with Pacific Crest national Scenic Trail near Crater Lake).

    More than 100 acre of developed recreation area facility located in downtown Ashland adjacent to the famous Oregon Shakespear Festival.
