This event was the Northwest's first outdoor music festival and now is the largest. Since 1962, it's been years of music under the stars in the historic goldrush town of Jacksonville. The hillside estate of pioneer photographer Peter Britt forms a natural amphitheater where worldrenowned artists perform classical, folk/county, and jazz music and musical theatre and dance from mid-June through early September.

Internationally renowned soloists, quartets, and ensembles perform classical music in Music Recital Hall on the Southern Oregon State College campus.

Oregon Shakespeare Festival operates three Tony-Award Winning Shakespearean theatres: The Elizabethan, The Angus Bowmer Theatre, and The Black Swan. Performs 11 plays in repertory during the Feb-Oct. season, concentrating on presenting the classics. Backstage tours, lectures, concerts and Festival museum.

Rogue Opera presents three full-scale productions each year. The organization also presents opera samplers during the winter season to approximately 10,000 schoolchildren.

Southern Oregon State College Theatre Arts Department - 1250 Siskiyou (Ashland).
One of the finest undergraduate theatre programs in the Northwest. The Dorothy Stolp Theatre and the "black box" theatre houses experimental productions. The season offers a selection of plays from both the classical and modern repertoire. Three productions, one of which includes the popular dinner theatre format. (541)552-6348.

The society stages monthly concerts. The musicians also perform during various musical events, often featuring well-known guest artists and regional jazz groups.
