Deschutes River, Metolius River, Lakes, and Reservoir..... Metolius River is at the Crest of the Cascades. 29 miles long. It flows from Black Butte to Lake Billy Chinook. It is a spring fed river. It is always about 48 degrees. It supports, redband trout, herons, otters, osprey, and deer. Redband trout is a larger fish described as having "shoulders" 12" to 20". Access: Camp Sherman - Highway 126 to Redmond, continue to Sisters, then NW on highway 20, then turn right on USFS # 14 follow signs to Camp Sherman. Fish year round, best Nov to Mar. Fly fish with Barbless Hooks from bridge 99 to walk-in campgrounds. Fish Hatchery - At Wizard Falls Lower Deschutes River - Sherar Falls north to Columbia River. Highway 97 to Grass Valley, turn west left to Highway 216, turn north on gravel road next to river, go 17 miles to Macks Canyon Campground. Middle Deschutes River - from Pelton Dam/Lake Simtustus north of Madras to Sherars Falls, north of Maupin. Access: Warm Springs Boat Ramp- Highway 26 to Bridge that crosses Deschutes River, 14 miles north of Madras. Locally known as "Portland Corner". Maupin - Highway 97 north 33 miles to Highway 197 travel NW 22 miles to Maupin. On southend of town, turn left on paved road just before the Oasis Resort, drive in and park at locked gate. Fish: Redband Trout, Steelhead, Browns, Bull Trout, and WhiteFish Summer evening good fishing. Purchase a Tribal Permit if fishing the reservation side of river. Return all wild Steelhead. Ochoco Reservoir - 1100 acres. Fishing is year round. Native Trout. Highway 26 east of Prineville, 7 miles. Rainbow trout, Brown Bullhead Catfish, Largemouth Bass, Black Crappie and Native Trout. Walton Lake - Highway 26 east 14 miles, take right hand fork at Forest Road # 23, after 8 miles continue on # 22 by taking left fork, paved road continues to lake. 18 acres surrounded by Pine Forest. Trout are stocked regularly. Rainbow Trout. Fish from float boat, boat or bank. Average depth 12 feet.

Smith Rock at Terrebonne Oregon - 18.9 from Third St. turn right on Highway 370 for 12.6 miles, continue on Lone Pine Rd. 1.3 miles, Left on NW Smith Rock Way, follow signs. Smith Rock State Park is internationally known to Rock climbers. Multi-colored formations known as welded tuff. Stay at a local hotel in town, at the State Park, or at primitive, secluded campsites only accessible by boat. Situated in the high desert the surrounding steep canyons, rolling hills, flat plateaus of sagebrush and juniper contribute to the tranquil setting. BLM Crooked River Natural Wilderness and Recreation area 12 miles. 9 camping areas along 4 miles of river. All have restrooms. Have picnic table, fire pit and grate, parking spot, dogs on leash. Lower Palisades 16.5 miles- Easy access for RV's Lower Crooked River Tour- There are no services, gas or food on Crooked River Highway. State Highway 27 south of Prineville is a day-trip. Below Prineville Reservoir and Bowman Dam there are Premiere Campsites for day-use and camping. Plus, the river is known for rainbow trout fly-fishing.
