Roseburg is situated at the heart of the Hundred Valleys of the Umpqua in scenic, Southwestern Oregon. On Interstate 5, it is 67 miles south of the state's second largest city, Eugene, and 123 miles north of the California border. It is 79 miles to Diamond Lake at the summit of the Oregon Cascades and just 20 miles more to Crater Lake National Park. The Umpqua Tribe of Indians occupied this area prior to the arrival of fur traders in the early 1800's. There are many outdoor activities in the valleys of the Umpqua. Lakes, rivers and reservoirs provide excellent settings for boating, fishing, rafting, water sports, or just relaxing. There are miles of hiking trails. Roseburg is located in Douglas County. Steward Park provide many recreational needs with tennis courts, soccer fields, the American Legion baseball field, playground equipment, municipal golf course, covered picnic pavilion, a new bandshell, wildlife refuge area and the South Umpqua River. The YMCA has two Olympic-size pools. The Umpqua Valley Tennis Club, with indoor and outdoor courts is located in Stewart Park. There is a new roller skating rink at the YMCA. The Club is another 18-hole golf course. It is located 13 miles north of I-5. Myrtle Creek, 17 miles south of Roseburg, and is constructing an 18-hole course. It should be open now. This club is private with a waiting list. There are two bowling alleys, a roller hockey rink, a rod and gun club, and health and finess clubs. There is an indoor batting facility with adjacent miniture golf course.

COLLIDING RIVERS VIEWPOINT - The North Umpqua River funnel into the white water chute and ram head-on in the rapids of Little River. There is a rest area and comfort station.

ROCK CREEK FISH HATCHERY - Located 22 miles east of Roseburg,
just off North Umpqua Hwy. 138, at Rock Creek. Guided and self-guided tours.

UMPQUA HOT SPRINGS - Off Hwy 138 onto Road #34 at the west entrance to Toketee Ranger Station.
At the bottom of the hill, turn left across two concrete bridges.
Go about 2.2 miles and turn right onto Rd. 3401. Proceed 2 miles to a parking area on the left.
A bridge which crosses the North Umpqua River is located at the parking area.
After crossing the bridge the trail should be followed to the right up a steep bank.
The Hot Springs is reached after a 1/4 mile hike.
