LOCATION: Salem, the capital city of Oregon, and Marion County seat, is located on the 45th parallel just 45 minutes south of Portland on Interstate Highway 5. It is in the heart of the fertile Willamette Valley, 58 miles from the Cascade summit on the Santiam Pass. SIZE: Salem contains 40.8 square miles within it's corporate limits.
