Sunriver is not a city, or town--it's an experience. Both a resort and planned residential community in the heart of Central Oregon, it is located only 15 miles south of Bend. A model of cooperation between the Sunriver Resort and the owners of the homes which surround it, this blended community becomes a delightful place to visit, spend your summers, or to live year 'round. Sunriver began its development in 1968, and is comprised of eleven interrelated Villages containing homes, condominiums, recreational and shopping facilities. The Deschutes River runs along the west boundary for five miles, and the development is virtually surrounded by National Forest, offering unique privacy and extensive recreational opportunities. Within the resort, two 18 hole golf courses front the river. There are over 30 miles of pathways for biking and walking, 27 tennis courts, riding stables, dozens of nearby fishing lakes. Sunriver is just 18 miles from super skiing on Mt. Bachelor with miles of cross country and snowmobile trails in between. In the summer you can hike through the lava lands and climb nearby peaks. Sunriver is home to the Sunriver Music Festival during the month of August.
